Support for SermonSpeaker 4.x is canceled as it is for Joomla 2.5. I will gladly assist you with minor issues but I will not fix any bugs anymore in this releases.
The fix is to upgrade to SermonSpeaker 5.x and Joomla 3.x, which is better anyway.

I think this depends on the reader as well.

The feed itself is ordered by date descending. The date when you entered the sermon is not visible in the feed. So it probably is the reader who stored the old feed items and appends the new entries to the feed on top.

If the user visits the feed the first time, it should be all sorted by date.
