That sounds interesting. The memory_limit isn't the cause here as that is a PHP setting. The buffer size would be a MySQL setting.
You probably have to ask your hoster to raise that limit. Best also ask him if he can tell you which query exactly does generate this error. Maybe I can optimise it then.
