Support for SermonSpeaker 5.x is in bugfix mode only, the same as it is for Joomla 3.10.
I will not add any new features to this releases.
Please upgrade to SermonSpeaker 6.x and Joomla 4.x, which is better anyway.

Can't 100% download mp3 files on mobile phone

Our church's website is using Joolma 3.3 and SermonSpeaker 5.2.3.

There is no problem when we download the mp3 files on computers through SermonSpeaker.

However, when we download the mp3 files on mobile phone (I tried the android platforms through 4.1-4.4.2), we can't complete the download, it always stops at 99%, and waiting for a while, it says "download fail".
I tested to download the mp3 file directly by the actual URL, it can complete the download (on mobile phone).

For example, I go to the page ylbc.org.hk/index.php/menu-sermon/sermon...-ylbc-sermon20150215 on mobile phone, click "download audio", it starts the download but stopped at 99%.
If I go to the ylbc.org.hk/sermon/ylbc_sermon20150215.mp3 and choose to download it, it can be 100% complete downloaded.

Please help! Is there any clue for this problem? Or any reference I have to provide?

Thank you so much!

That's quite sure a server or connection issue somehow. Try checking the server (Apache) error log to see if you got any errors logged.

I'd have to agree, if you press download button it takes a while to download mp3 file. for me the file was handing @ 5MB for about 3 minutes. i'm sure android would have timed out by then.

Another idea is to test with a smaller file. To see if it's related to size/downloadtime.

Sorry, I don't know where to find out the server error log... I could find the activity logs in ftp only.
The activity log shows something like that:
58.152.184.240 - - [16/Feb/2015:19:50:17 +0800] "GET /sermon/ylbc_sermon20150215.mp3 HTTP/1.1" 206 393 " ylbc.org.hk/index.php?option=com_sermons...popup&tmpl=component " "Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 4.2.2; HM NOTE 1W Build/JDQ39) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/40.0.2214.109 Mobile Safari/537.36" 0 0 "off:-:-" 584 2281

I built this website in Dec 2014, but there is an old website which is still on the same server, the old one is running Joomla 3.2.2 and SermonSpeaker 4.5. I restored it and made a try, my mobile phone can download the whole mp3 through SermonSpeaker.
e.g. joomlaold.ylbc.org.hk/index.php/ylbc-ser...-2014-11-30-09-58-49

All the sermon mp3 are around 11MB-17MB, we didn't have download problem in the old website (that had run for nearly 2 years).

I know it may be a specific problem, I do need more hints and helps, e.g. Where can I find the server error log? Should I downgrade the SermonSpeaker to have a try?

Thanks for any help~!

Please contact your hoster if you don't have access to the error logfile yourself. He will be able to help you.
Never downgrade and existing SermonSpeaker installation. That is not supported at all and will create issues for sure.

The download button invokes a "download" method in SermonSpeaker which tells PHP to read and serve the file with the correct headers. This way the file gets downloaded. If you directly access the file in a browser, it usually will be loaded directly with the default media player of the OS instead of downloading it.
