Support for SermonSpeaker 4.x is canceled as it is for Joomla 2.5. I will gladly assist you with minor issues but I will not fix any bugs anymore in this releases.
The fix is to upgrade to SermonSpeaker 5.x and Joomla 3.x, which is better anyway.

Thomas, I might add that this happened as part of converting Joomla 1.5 to 2.5 and moving our site to a new server. We still have a working 3.4.4 installation on a server but under Joomla 1.5. Would it be easier to move this to the J 2.5 server and then updating to 4.0 and then 4.4.11?

May I point you to the FAQ entry "How do I migrate to SermonSpeaker 4.x" ?

It's written there how to get all of your sermons from the old installation to your new one.
Easiest is to completely uninstall SermonSpeaker now and start fresh following the steps described in the FAQ
