Support for SermonSpeaker 3.x is canceled as it is for Joomla 1.5. I will gladly assist you with minor issues but I will not fix any bugs anymore in this releases.
The fix is to upgrade to SermonSpeaker 4.x, which is better anyway.

In SermonSpeaker 3.4.3 the options to customize the layouts are not as good as in SermonSpeaker 4.x. If the settings in the backend don't work, you need to edit the layoutfile itself.
If you know a bit of HTML and PHP, this isn't a hard thing to do.
The file in question would be
components\com_sermonspeaker\views\sermon\tmpl\extnewline.php
Just delete the lines you don't want to show (or comment them out).
How many episodes are shown is set by the global Joomla parameter "feed length". Look there and choose as you wish
