Support for SermonSpeaker 5.x is in bugfix mode only, the same as it is for Joomla 3.10.
I will not add any new features to this releases.
Please upgrade to SermonSpeaker 6.x and Joomla 4.x, which is better anyway.

Is there a way to use Youtube's own player?

I can embed the code Youtube provide into the Sermon description but that's not very user friendly and wondered if there was plugin that uses the Youtube player that works with Sermon Speaker.

None of the players I've tried seem to work in any case?

This seems a logical step if it needs developing since so many churches are using Youtube now.

If you enter the URL from your Youtube video (eg www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIWWx4Zghio ) into the videofile field, the mediaelement and JW player both should be able to play it.
