Support for SermonSpeaker 5.x is in bugfix mode only, the same as it is for Joomla 3.10.
I will not add any new features to this releases.
Please upgrade to SermonSpeaker 6.x and Joomla 4.x, which is better anyway.

Hits are not counted

Hits are not counted was created by Andreas
The hit counter is not visible on the frontend page. But I would like to see the hits in the backend.
Unfortunately the hit counter in the backend shows always zero. I've checked it in the database, the 'hits' column is set to 0 on every item.
The statistic setting is active: "Statistics", "Track Sermon Plays" = yes. Is there another setting?
Thank you for this awesome component!

There is another setting in the "Permissions" tab where you can set specific user groups which are not tracked. So if you're logged in as Super User while testing the counter, it will not work.
It may also not work on each page load if a cache is active. But even then it should increment when the cache gets refreshed.

No User group has the right to block the hit count, and the problem is still there with a disabled cache.
Do you have any other ideas, to solve that problem?

That's strange.
I'd have to look at the site and see if I can find something.
Can you share the URL of the site?
And maybe send me access to the backend so I could look there. Use the contact form or send me an email if you want to allow that

After having a look at the site, the reason for the hits not being counted is that there is no link to the sermon detailpage (the title and icon both start the player). The code only works on that page and is actually a page counter.
The hit counter doesn't count when a sermon is played with the player. If you need that statistic, you need to do that on server level (access logs for the sermon audio files), SermonSpeaker can't track that.

Thank you for your investigations.
I will check, what I can do on server level or with external statistic solutions, like Google Analytics, JRealtime etc.
