Support for SermonSpeaker 5.x is in bugfix mode only, the same as it is for Joomla 3.10.
I will not add any new features to this releases.
Please upgrade to SermonSpeaker 6.x and Joomla 4.x, which is better anyway.

Hi,

I'm currently setting up a new website for our service using SermonSpeaker.
I have menu links to the latest sermon, the current series and all sermons (category list).
The problem is, that links to series and speakers in the category list all point to subelements of the "current series" menu item.
It seems like "current series" directory is used as the base directory for all SermonSpeaker links, but I do not understand why.
You can check the page on test.eag-es.de/index.php/en/sermons
Thanks for helping!

You may want to test the current in-development version of SermonSpeaker. I recently made some improvements to the way a matching menu item detected and it may fix your issues.
The attached version is based on todays code. I haven't officially released it yet but it should be safe to use.

Thank you Thomas for the quick reply!
I installed the new version, but I can't see any changes. Is there anything I need to do for the changes to become active?
Is there a possibilty to set a fixed menu item for the SermonSpeaker pages?

You don't need to do anything. After this version is installed, it automatically uses the new code to detect the menu items.

The way it works is that SermonSpeaker tries to automatically detect a matching menu item based on view (sermon list, series list, speaker list, sermon detail page, ...), category (the category itself and its parents) and language. If a specific menu item is found, that one is used for the link.
If no specific item is found, it checks if the currently active menu item is a SermonSpeaker item and uses that if it's true.
If not, it will take the first SermonSpeaker menu item found and if there is none it takes the default homepage menu item.

Most of the time, that should work nicely.

In your case, it looks like it takes the first one found for some reason. Because the "current sermon series" looks like a "serie detail page" view and should not be valid for a sermons list or any other link.
You may try to delete that menu item and recreate it again, so it gets a higher ID than the other menu item. This may fix it because then another menu item will be the "first" one.
In the end it sounds like a bug to me, but I would have to dig deeper into it and see how exactly you have set it up. It may be related to your multilingual setup but I'm not sure yet. If you want, you can send me credentials for your backend so I can see the SermonSpeaker manager. You can send it to bakual@bakual.ch. Feel free to write in German ;)

Thanks again for the background information!
I recreated the menu item to increase the item id, but the behaviour is still the same.
I will send you the credentials so you can have a closer look.
