Support for SermonSpeaker 5.x is in bugfix mode only, the same as it is for Joomla 3.10.
I will not add any new features to this releases.
Please upgrade to SermonSpeaker 6.x and Joomla 4.x, which is better anyway.

search plugin, how to make it work was created by Dave Evans
OK, so I installed the search plugin from this site. I uploaded and installed it to my site. Then I went to Plugin Manager and published it. But now what?
How to apply the plugin to the page where all the sermons are listed? I haven't found any instructions on how to do this.
Thanks for your continued help.

The plugin integrates into the Joomla search function. The one you also use to search for articles and the like.
That means you just publish the core search module or use a menu item pointing to the Joomla Search component. With the plugin, this search will now also return sermons, speakers and series.

But, it isn't returning results. I've published 5 sermons from one particular Speaker. When I search using the search field, it returns 0 results. What am I doing wrong?
Try it yourself... www.argoparkchurch.com
try searching for "Creel" which is the last name of one of the speakers.
I tried searching for "repent" which is part of the name of one of the sermons. Got 0 results.

Did you install the "Smart Search" plugin or the regular one? The regular one (
www.sermonspeaker.net/download/plugin-search.html
) should work in your case.
It looks like it's not enabled as the search categories related to SermonSpeaker are not listed. You see this listed below "Search Only"

the one I installed was plg_finder_sermonspeaker501.zip
so, I just downloaded sermonspeaker.zip from the link you provided. Once I upload and publish it, do I need to do anything else?

The "finder" one is for Smart Search
Just install the one I linked and publish it. It should work out of the box.
You can of course have a look at the parameters as well if you want. Maybe there is something helpful in there
