Support for SermonSpeaker 5.x is in bugfix mode only, the same as it is for Joomla 3.10.
I will not add any new features to this releases.
Please upgrade to SermonSpeaker 6.x and Joomla 4.x, which is better anyway.

JW Player should work. It will automatically fall back to a HTML player on devices that don't support Flash. Also you can select that JW Player will work in HTML mode first and falls back to Flash if the filetype isn't supported.

The biggest problem with HTML5 players is that there is no filetype which is supported by each device. See html5doctor.com/native-audio-in-the-browser/ as an example. There is a nice table which shows the problem nicely.

Can you test if it works with this file:

File Attachment:

File Name: hfa4b953.zip
File Size:1 KB

Extract it and put it to /components/com_sermonspeaker/helpers/player/pixelout.php. Overwrite the existing one.
The HTML5 fallback was using an urlencoded URL which apparently doesn't work for extern ressources. I've changed this now.

However I think the JW Player one should have worked.

There is no specific reason why JPlayer isn't in the list. I just didn't have the time yet to do that. But then it's not that hard to do if you know a bit PHP. You can have a look at the files in the folder you put the pixelout.php. If you copy one and adjust it, you will have your own player :-)
