Support for SermonSpeaker 4.x is canceled as it is for Joomla 2.5. I will gladly assist you with minor issues but I will not fix any bugs anymore in this releases.
The fix is to upgrade to SermonSpeaker 5.x and Joomla 3.x, which is better anyway.

I notice that sermons don't have the name of the sermon in the sef-link, but something like sermon/591.
Is there an option to change this?

The name should be in there after the number. To be more precise the "alias" should be there. Make sure your sermons have an alias set.

If the alias is set and the link still doesn't show it, I would have to know where the link is shown.

I see, it's a bug in the tiles layout you use.

You can try to replace

SermonspeakerHelperRoute::getSermonRoute($item->id)
with
Code:
SermonspeakerHelperRoute::getSermonRoute($item->slug)
in the file

/components/com_sermonspeaker/views/sermons/tmpl/tiles.php
