Support for SermonSpeaker 4.x is canceled as it is for Joomla 2.5. I will gladly assist you with minor issues but I will not fix any bugs anymore in this releases.
The fix is to upgrade to SermonSpeaker 5.x and Joomla 3.x, which is better anyway.

I am on J 2.5.6
This is what I enter:
<embed src=" sermon.net/swf/ma.swf " quality="high" width="290" height="65" name="mpp" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="always" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars="poid=119944266&d=http://www.sermon.net/&autostart=false" pluginspage=" www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer ">

After I save this is what is added by something:
<object quality="high" width="290" height="65" name="mpp" align="middle" allowscriptaccess="always" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars="poid=119944266&amp;d=http://www.sermon.net/&amp;autostart=false" pluginspage=" www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer " style="vertical-align: middle;" data=" sermon.net/swf/ma.swf ">
<param name="movie" value=" sermon.net/swf/ma.swf " />
</object>

You should use code tags, otherwise the forum will change your code :)

I tried both embed codes offered by sermon.net/dsc/sermonid/119935628 :
Code:
<img style="visibility:hidden;width:0px;height:0px;" border=0 width=0 height=0 src="http://c.gigcount.com/wildfire/IMP/CXNID=2000002.0NXC/bT*xJmx*PTEzNDAyMDY2MzU2NjEmcHQ9MTM*MDIwNjcwNjIwNCZwPTEzNjgyMSZkPSZnPTEmbz*1ZjE1NzAxZjUzODM*MjkyOWM*/MjNjOGE2ZmI3ODMwYiZvZj*w.gif" /> <embed src="http://sermon.net/swf/ma.swf" quality="high" width="290" height="65" name="mpp" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="always" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars="poid=119935628&d=http://www.sermon.net/" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" > </embed>
and
Code:
<embed src='http://sermon.net/swf/share_player/share_player.swf' height='312' width='415' bgcolor='#192428' allowscriptaccess='always' allowfullscreen='true' flashvars="&aboutlink=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sermon.net%2F&abouttext=About%20Sermon%20Network&author=Paul%20Wilkerson&backcolor=%23192428&cid=25672&controlbar=over&date=05-27-2012&description=Learn%20to%20act%20like%20Jesus&file=http%3A%2F%2Fsermon.net%2Fdownload.php%3Fc%3D25672-count_audio_mini-119935628.mp3&frontcolor=%23FFFFFF&image=http%3A%2F%2Fsermon.net%2Fc%2Fdsc%2Fartwork%2F119935628_25672.jpg&lightcolor=%23A6CC41&plugins=sponsor_rotator%2Cviral-2&screencolor=%23192428&skin=http%3A%2F%2Fsermonplayer.com%2Fswf%2Fstylish%2Fstylish.swf&title=Our%20Supreme%20Example&viral.callout=none&viral.functions=embed%2Clink&viral.link=http%3A%2F%2Fsermon.net%2Fdsc%2Fsermonid%2F119935628&viral.oncomplete=false&viral.onpause=false" />
Both worked when entered into the sermon notes field using JCE Source Code function.

The result can be seen here: joomla16.hopto.org/sermons/sermon/25-test-jce-embed.html

The changed code probably is caused by Flash itself.

Thomas,
On your next upgrade do I have to make these changes again?

Can you try to edit the following files:
/components/com_sermonspeaker/models/forms/sermon.xml
administrator/components/com_sermonspeaker/models/forms/sermon.xml
