Support for SermonSpeaker 4.x is canceled as it is for Joomla 2.5. I will gladly assist you with minor issues but I will not fix any bugs anymore in this releases.
The fix is to upgrade to SermonSpeaker 5.x and Joomla 3.x, which is better anyway.

"path to sermons" not recognizing sub-folders

Hi,
I don't know if this is a bug or if it's meant to be this way. Previously on the 3.4.2 sermonspeaker component, it would recognise sub-folders where sermons were located when it populated the drop-down for the sermon locations in the back end.

For example, /0001/sermonone.mp3 would be listed as well as /0003/sermontwo.mp3

Is there a setting that would enable sermonspeaker to recognize the sermons in sub-folders again?

Thanks,
Bert

It's intended.
The problem was basically that the list got way to big with the time. Also it needed a lot more code to populate the dropdown and thus was slower.

There is a new setting which automatically creates subfolders based on year/month during upload. If this subfolder is present, the dropdown will be populated from there.

Also there is a new tool function to search for orphaned files. This one also search subdirectories and lets you create new sermons from them or delete them.

Maybe this helps you. Otherwise I would like to know why you need to search the subdirectories. Is there a special need for this?

Aaah, I understand the reasoning.

My only reasoning was that I found issues a couple years ago if I loaded too many sermons into one folder. For me, having a long list in the dropdown wasn't a problem as the new sermons were always on the end (I've named them beginning with the year, month, day).

So I guess my question then would be: how many sermons are reasonable to upload into one folder before changing into a new one. Or is this not a problem for sermonspeaker any longer?

Thanks,
Bert

If you don't mind the big list, you can have as many files in a directory as you wish. SermonSpeaker shouldn't get noticeable slower.
