Support for SermonSpeaker 3.x is canceled as it is for Joomla 1.5. I will gladly assist you with minor issues but I will not fix any bugs anymore in this releases.
The fix is to upgrade to SermonSpeaker 4.x, which is better anyway.

You could use the "latest sermons" module to show the most recent sermon. Together with the Joomla {loadposition} command you could create an article which will show this module in an article on the frontpage.

I have just added the possibility to show the most recent sermon in a menu item. Now if the single sermon view is called without an 'id' (or 'id' set to 0) SermonSpeaker will try to show the most recent sermon. Previously it showed an error.

I have the current development version attached. It installs as SermonSpeaker 4.4.5, but you should threat it as a beta version.
