Support for SermonSpeaker 5.x is in bugfix mode only, the same as it is for Joomla 3.10.
I will not add any new features to this releases.
Please upgrade to SermonSpeaker 6.x and Joomla 4.x, which is better anyway.

Hello!

Thank you for this wonderful extension! I'm updating a church website for a friend of mine from J! 2.5.28 to 3.6.x, and I would like to use SermonSpeaker for their sermons. Currently, their 2.5.x site uses Preachit 3.5.8, and I saw from searching around that at one point there was a way to import PreachIt records into SermonSpeaker, but this feature seems to have been dropped (or I can't find it).

What would be the easiest way to import preachit sermon records into the latest SermonSpeaker? Preachit 3.5.8 has a backup feature which spits out an XML file, and I also have access to the database to export the table if need be.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Joe

The current version of SermonSpeaker should still support importing from PreachIt. It will show a button in the "Tools" section if PreachIt is installed as well.

Ah, I see. The site I am creating is a new install of J! 3.6.x, so I don't currently have preachit installed. I could purchase the 3 month subscription, I guess, but wouldn't mind taking a different approach. If I were to import the PreachIt table from the 2.5.28 install into my database, would that be enough for the import option to show up?

Thanks!

Looks like that did it. In case somebody finds themselves in the same boat, the steps I took were the following:
  1. Login to phpMyAdmin for old J! installation
  2. Select each PreachIt table (xxx_pibckadmin to xxx_pitemplates)
  3. Scroll to bottom and choose Export from dropdown
  4. Login to new J! installation's phpMyAdmin and go to the Import Tab, browse to the SQL file exported to your computer in the previous step, and upload

This brings the import option up in the backend in SermonSpeaker!

Yeah, the trigger is simply the presence of a "#__pistudies" table. (see github.com/Bakual/SermonSpeaker/blob/mas...ls/view.html.php#L49 )
Thus simply copying the tables works.

Thanks again for your help with this. Now I just noticed that after the import, all the speakers had been imported successfully; however, none of the sermons imported have any imported speakers associated with them. Is there an easy way to reconnect those speakers with their sermons after import?

Thanks!
