Streaming audio was created by Ken Lee
Dear Thomas,
People in well Internet connected may not notice this.
Whenever a user clicks on a sermon, the browser downloads the whole mp3 and starts playing. There is nothing wrong as long as the client and servers have good quality connection and unlimited transfer quota.
At less-developed countries downloading the whole mp3 of several MBs can be a burden for the client. For the server which is limited or chargeable by transfer quota, it is a burden for the sermon hosts, too. It would be particular wasteful of waiting time and money if the user listens the first few minutes and decided he is not interested and clicks another audio.
Up to now I can think of using per-user streaming possibility by Wowza or so.
Would you advise how we should tackle this problem?
Thank you.
Ken

JW Player 7 would support streaming the audio file. It needs some support on the server side to my knowledge and would need some adjusting in the player plugins JavaScript code. The latter would be simple to adjust.
